A DAY IN THE LIFE

Sometimes, my only peaceful moments come during drives to and from art classes. Yesterday, I found myself caught in a traffic backup caused by a heavy fog bank—a perfect reminder to pause and appreciate the journey.

My classes have taken on a life of their own, and although my personal output has shrunk, I'm grateful for the opportunities to collaborate with art centers, fellow teachers, and enthusiastic students. We recently wrapped up six weeks of portrait painting, where participants created stunning pieces. Some finished early, and I encouraged them to sketch one of their classmates—Vicki took the bait and captured Eddie in a beautiful scene of creativity. Moments like these make it all worthwhile.

The next class of five lively and hardworking students tackled pastels while working on a still-life of pottery, pears, and dried flowers. The results were truly masterful, proving that even the most challenging mediums can yield incredible outcomes.
