All of my art classes have come to an abrupt end as a result of the coronavirus. Now I realize, more than ever, how much I enjoy my students, the time we share, and the art we work on.
Represented here is one of my favorite steps in the portrait painting classes, the initial blocking in of the values. At this stage the rawness and beauty of expression shines forth. Of course my students want to see the results and refinement of a completed painting. However I try to instill the appreciation of portraits for the sake of being art first.
Alas, I hope to see everyone when this pandemic comes to a screeching halt. In fact I am predicting a renewed appreciation and energy for creating and sharing of artistic endeavors.
